Supv Invasive Cardiology - Baylor Scott & White Health (Texas)
The Supervisor of Invasive Cardiology ensures delivery of quality care to adult and geriatric patients. Ensures competency of staff. Prepares staff evaluations. Ensures quality control an participation in continuous quality improvement (CQI). Supervises new employee orientation and continuous education for Invasive Cardiology staff. Develops department policies and recommends number of and job classifications of staff. Participates in the development of monitors and operates within the departmental budget. Recommends space and equipment and orders and maintains adequate supply inventory. The Supervisor maintains clinical competence of Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist or Cath Lab RN and performs all required invasive cardiology procedures at a technical level not requiring direct supervision.
The Supervisor can expect to do the following:
+ Ensure quality care and testing of patients by following established guidelines of performance.
+ Collect and prepare catheterization data for procedures
+ Recommend for hire, development, and evaluation of Invasive Cardiology personnel.
+ Provide adequate coverage, including on-call coverage, with competent qualified staff.
+ Establish and implement ongoing Improving Organizational Performance program to meet hospital and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) standards.
+ Maintain effective communication system, including staff and management meetings as well as required reporting.
+ Responsible and accountable for the financial management of the department.
+ Perform clinical duties for Cardiac Catheterizations, Temporary Pacemaker Insertions, Intra-aortic Balloon Insertions, Electrophysiology, Ablations ICD Implantations, Brachytherapy, AAA Stent Placements, and noninvasive procedures.
+ Prepare sterile fields for catheterization lab procedures.
+ Load film and X-ray machines and develop films.
+ Circulate in procedures room and collect data on appropriate forms.
+ Monitor patient's ECG and vital signs while in catheterization lab, checking for abnormalities.
+ Administer medication as directed by physician.
+ Provide emergency procedures (CPR trained) as needed.

The candidate will have a passion for excellence and the ability to elevate the competencies of the various patient care providers. analytical decision-making skills necessary to assess and resolve complex logistical, technical and patient care issues, excellent conflict resolution and time management skills. + Education: Associate's or Equivalent
+ Experience: Associates degree with 2 years of cardiovascular lab experience, or
Military formal training equivalent to a 2 year program with 2 years of cardiovascular lab experience, or
6 years of related cardiovascular lab experience
Licenses/Certifications (Must meet one of the following):
+ Registered Nurse (RN), or
+ Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or
+ American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT), or
+ Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES), or
+ Certified Electrophysiology Specialist (CEPS), or
+ Certified Cardiac Device Specialist (CCDS)
