Description

The Sr\. Backup and Storage Administrator’s role is to serve as technical lead for a distributed team managing storage appliances, SAN infrastructure, as well as daily data backup systems and jobs globally across Textron and its subsidiaries to ensure data protection, availability, and security\. This subject matter expert also directs the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure job scheduling, backup efficiency, capacity management, system performance, offsite replication, and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements\. Serve as subject matter expert for Textron\-owned backup and storage services\.

Responsibilities:

+ Lead the architectural design and implementation of global backup and storage solutions\.

+ Lead team in monitoring daily reports, backup jobs, troubleshooting/remediating failures, and escalating repeat failures to server support teams and/or appropriate suppliers\.

+ Design and distribute backup reports to system owners and stakeholders\.

+ Enforce standards for system architecture in close collaboration with application owners, developers, end\-users and stakeholders\.

+ Design and implement global backup and storage solutions in keeping with long\-term strategic plan for enterprise file and block storage, backup system management and platform maturity, including cross\-platform/multi\-cloud recovery, business continuity/disaster recovery, automation and cost optimization\.

+ Develop and document processes and procedures to be used by all responsible parties in system deployment, maintenance, and administration activities in accordance with company policies, industry standards, and recommended practices\.

+ Direct and audit third\-party support activities for adherence to Textron policies, procedures, and architecture standards\.

+ Design and implementation of availability, data protection, and system integrity strategies globally\. Monitor to ensure these objectives are met and escalate exceptions through to resolution\.

+ Plan and coordinate upgrades, data migrations, system refreshes, etc\.

+ Perform critical incident response, troubleshooting, and remediation activities during outages or periods of performance degradation\.

+ Represent Textron in global change management processes for planned activities that might impact critical backup and storage system availability, replication, or performance\.

+ Ensure the protection of the privacy of employee personnel records including, but not limited to, personal information about employees

+ Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

+ A Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or related field is required

+ Good understanding of backup and storage architecture design techniques, theories, principles, and practices\. Working technical experience with designing, building, installing, configuring, and supporting backup systems and management software

+ Good communication skills, both oral and written are required

+ The candidate must possess good organizational and time management skills and be willing to work unusual hours and occasional overtime

+ The ideal employee will be highly self\-motivated and directed

+ Minimum of 8\-10 years in IT industry specifically in backup and storage system administration and/or pertinent technical certifications are preferred
