Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant - Cetechs (Texas)
Full-time opportunity to work in one of two trauma centers in El Paso County that treats between 10 and 15 percent of trauma cases in the area, to include around 66,000 beneficiaries annually. The hospital is affiliated with institutions such as Texas Tech University School of Medicine, University of Texas at El Paso School of Nursing and El Paso Community College Nursing School.

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for assisting physicians in providing primary or specialty medical care and management of patients in the Emergency Department. Provide medical examination, care, and treatment to eligible military healthcare system beneficiaries and other patients on an emergent basis. Obtain adequate history, physical, assessment and develop plan in a timely and appropriate manner on each patient and develop treatment plan. Responsible for regularly appointed clinic, compatible with workload and, in addition, provide immediate evaluation and management of emergent problems as they occur.
JOB DUTIES:
Stabilize and manage patients in a medical or surgical emergency and/or transfer to physician care All procedures within the scope of a Physician Assistant Perform the following blocks: Digital, Local Infiltration, and Intercostal Utilize paraprofessional staff as appropriate Initiate requests for tests, x-rays, and admissions to the medical treatment facility, as appropriate Follow-up on abnormal reports Interpretation of examination findings and test results and implementation of treatment plans Basic reading and interpretation of x-rays Determine need for consultation and assist in medical care and treatment provided at the direction of other specialists Prescribe medications, as appropriate, in accordance with the privileges and hospital rules and regulations Prepare and document appropriate history physical examinations and diagnosis. Maintain documentation of all treatment provided in accordance with hospital directives and prepare such records and reports as may be required by the policy Review medical histories and progress of patients. Examine patients, make diagnosis of disease, disaster, or injury, and treat patient or prescribe a course of treatment. Abide by all facility rules, regulations, and policies Provide medical advice over the telephone Perform all job duties in such a manner that they meet all JCAHO StandardsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Graduate of Physician Assistant educational program accredited by the Review Commission for the Physician Assistant Possess and maintain a current unrestricted license to practice as a PA any of the 50 United States, the District of Colombia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands Have and maintain a current certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) Must continuously maintain NCCPA certification and be Board Certified by the NCCPA.
