Air Products and Chemicals, Inc.(NYSE:APD), a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Planner/Coordinator for its Houston Area HYCO (hydrogen/ carbon monoxide) facilities. This position is based at our Baytown, TX plant.
The basic function of this role is to minimize total cost by maximizing work force and resource capabilities through prioritizing, planning and scoping of maintenance work orders in the safest possible manner. The Maintenance Planner/Coordinator will co-lead backlog review and prioritization activities along with the Maintenance Superintendent. They will assist in developing work scopes as well as estimate cost related to labor, materials, equipment and special tool requirements to complete the job in a safe and cost-effective manner. The incumbent will hold a leadership role in the Houston Area HYCO maintenance organization reporting to the area Maintenance Superintendent. They will be expected to drive as well as participate in all aspects of the company’s safety and reliability programs and culture.
The position responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:
+ Planning of scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities for the Air Products Houston Area HYCO facilities.
+ Tracking and providing updates on progress of day to day jobs on the daily maintenance schedule and will report status updates to the Maintenance Superintendent. Assist in leading and participating in weekly/ monthly maintenance planning and backlog meetings with operations teams.
+ Provide current updates on projected delivery times of parts on order to aid in the scheduling process.
+ Responsibility for maintaining communications between operations and maintenance technicians to assign job and work priorities. Will also be expected to assist the regional capital projects group in scheduling with maintenance and operations resources.
+ Track PM compliance and drive the team to meet compliance goals of 100%. Work with the North American PM coordination team to ensure PMs are assigned appropriately to our equipment.
+ Lead the planning and execution of smaller plant outages that fall outside of the North American Turnaround Team’s scope.
+ Availability to take calls after hours and weekends to assist with coordinating maintenance technician emergency call outs as well as support in plant activities as needed.
+ Support the Maintenance Supervisor in the creation and implementation of standardized maintenance work practices and procedures. Help coach the teams on a consistent basis to adhere to and improve these work processes.
+ Interface with Materials Management and warehousing to update spares information as needed. Coordinate with Materials Management on interplant stock transfers. Run the work process around the consumables zone store program.
+ Learn the maintenance area budget reporting process to act as a back up to the Maintenance Superintendent.
+ Assist in estimating projected spend/ cost estimates for forecasting purposes.
+ Assist in coaching and development of technicians through the progression plan guidelines to ultimately achieve Level 1 senior technician status.
+ Carry out on site assessments of the resources necessary to enable the maintenance team to successfully execute the various maintenance activities. This will include liaising with technical and non-technical departments within Air Products and external contractors.
+ Knowledge, experience and initiative to function in a key role during major planned maintenance shutdowns.
+ Involvement in a variety of other tasks including the co-ordination and execution of reliability and productivity improvement projects.
Qualifications/Requirements:
+ High school diploma with preferred relative technical school, military or college degree.
+ Relative experience will be given strong consideration in lieu of formal education.
+ Five (5) plus years’ experience in the petrochemical & manufacturing industry. Prior planning & estimating experience or maintenance supervision experience is a plus.
+ Self-starter with a solid work history and excellent references along with the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
+ Excellent organizational skills are a must.
+ Good working knowledge of the maintenance associated with industrial plant equipment such as pressure systems, rotating machinery, instrumentation, analytical and electrical systems.
+ MS package such as Word and Excel are essential. A working knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
+ Good communication & coordination skills.
Skills - Technical
+ Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications, etc., to determine scope of work, required content of estimate, prepare time and cost estimates, planning/ preparing bids and determining whether the work is classified as capital or non-capital.
+ Prepare detailed lists of planned work and discuss with Maintenance Superintendent to schedule maintenance activities.
+ Recommend needs for planned activities including appropriate contractors, resources, parts and vendors.
+ Coordinate and help manage contractor work activities on site emphasizing safety, quality and work scope execution.
+ Track cost, timeline progression and coordinates the utilization of equipment, materials & rentals.
