Community Services Coordinator - City of McKinney, TX - McKinney, TX

United States Jobs - Under general direction, the Community Services Coordinator will be responsible implementing Economic Development goals and programs under the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and working with the public, nonprofit and private sectors, to implement objectives under the City’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). Ability to work in a team environment and skills of building consensus, negotiating, and resolving issues are required. Prepare and provide reports, presentations and other services with solid writing and speaking skills.

Duties and Responsibilities/Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Behaviors:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement planning strategies and research to ensure public benefit of funded activities and projects. Capacity to work with prospective developers, community stakeholders, economic or community development agencies, and others to achieve the goals.

Serve as the key contact to coordinate and implement CDBG-specific Economic Development programs including Infrastructure and other eligible activities.

Identify and develop effective partnerships with property owners, brokers, planners, community leaders and other economic development partners to achieve desired programs.

Participate with a variety of Boards; attend and participate in professional groups and committees to stay abreast of trends and developments, as applicable.

Participate in the development of long and short-term goals, objectives, policies and procedures; identify resources needed to accomplish goals and objectives.

Represent the City in public functions as needed and strive to maintain good public relations between citizens and the City; participate in and advise a variety of boards and commissions; provide and collect information to and from boards, commissions, committees, and City Council.

Follow and enforce appropriate safety and security precautions to safeguard all City assets (human, environmental, and financial).

Ensure compliance with all Federal Policies and Procedures.

Maintain CDBG project files for all federal, state and city compliance requirements, as applicable.

Develop and review reports related to CDBG Economic Development; present reports to staff and entities as directed.

Comply with all written City policies and procedures.

Adhere to assigned work schedule as outlined in City and department attendance policies and procedures.

Ability to use computer applications such as word processors, databases, spreadsheets, etc. as required.

Ability to analyze and problem solve issues; engage market awareness and credibility that allows for solid project activity.

Knowledge of CDBG requirements, regulations, and eligible CDBG activities for programming.

The ability to work in a team environment; contribute as a team member and treat co-workers, subordinates and customers with respect.

Build professional relationships with internal staff and customers.

Offer flexibility and adaptability, especially during times of change.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Minimum Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in public administration, economics, or business administration or related field.
Minimum of two years of progressive experience in community or economic development, with knowledge and skills working with CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) activities relative to economic development, market research, data collection, and management.

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

Physical Demands/Supplemental:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Tasks involve the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (5-50 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require visual and sound perception and oral communications ability.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Tasks may involve exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
