Psychiatric-Mental Health - Physician - SUMO Medical Staffing (Texas)
JOB SPECS:
~ Accountable for medical staff governance, including recruitment, retention,
credentialing, privileging
and all personnel actions pertaining to assigned hospital medical staff
~ Ensure the hospital complies with Joint Commission, Medicare, Medicaid and IMD
standards, agency
rules, regulations and policies, as well as Texas Statutes
~ Acts as medical liaison with referring healthcare providers, including Mental Health
Authorities, managed care entities, universities and committing courts, as needed
~ Oversees the provision and coordination of all patient care services provided by clinical
departments, except for psychiatry
~ Directs the recruitment, retention and deployment of medical staff
~ Applies knowledge of Texas Statutes, agency rules, regulations and policies; Joint
Commission, Medicare, Medicaid and IMD standards
~ Evaluates fiscal, equipment and human resource needs of clinical service departments
~ Applies understanding of psychiatric treatment and common risk management issues to
lead critical
services in providing a safe environment for patients, employees and visitors
~ Represents clinical services as a member of senior management on the hospital
governing body
~ Executive Committee and other DSHS/HHSC or agency-wide committees
~ Provides patient assessment and treatment within the scope of privileges granted and
meets specified standards of care
~ Works collaboratively with the Clinical Director for Psychiatric Services, oversees all
general medical services
REQUIRED:
~ TX state license; active, unrestricted
~ BC; Psychiatry and Neurology preferred
~ Two (2) years’ experience treating forensic psychiatric patients as in-patients in a
hospital setting
~ Two (2) years’ experience in a clinical administrative position
~ DEA
~ Must pass: pre-employment drug screen, DPS criminal background check, FBI
fingerprint check and Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS) Employee
Misconduct Registry
~ DEA
