Police Service Assistant - City of Arlington - Arlington, TX
Salary: $17.2160 - $21.5200 per hour. This position is a non-exempt position under FLSA.
Duties: Under general supervision, performs various duties supporting patrol operations, as well as field support for transporting vehicles and abandoned property. Essential job functions include:
1. Ability to make scheduled trips which includes delivering and picking up various types of information and paperwork, transferring vehicles and equipment to various locations for repair and monitoring status for timely pick up in order to eliminate disruption in patrol activities.
2. Ability to pick up abandoned vehicles and properties, ensuring such property is place in the property impound and complete property reports, property transmittals, and the appropriate incident reports.
3. Ability to assist on certain types of calls for service including minor accidents, major accidents, parking violations, lost persons/child calls, assist traffic, assist motorist, recovered vehicles, fireworks, found property, animal ordinance violations, and others as assigned by supervisor.
Additional Requirements:
Incumbent must possess the following:
Working knowledge and understanding of city ordinances, penal code, traffic laws, and departmental General Orders.
Skill in communicating with other city employees and the public by oral and written means.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers and the public.
Skill in operating a two-way radio.
Skill in making simple arithmetic calculations.
Skill to follow oral and written directions.
Skill in recording and organizing data.
Skill to print in a manner easily read and understood by others.
Ability to input information into mainframe computer system, access and retrieve information.
Ability to perform a variety of physical skills including, but not limited to carrying, seeing, sitting, standing, typing and walking.
Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent to lifting up to 100 pounds.
Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication.
Ability to maintain accurate detailed records.
Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, regulations and departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to enter data at a rate of 41 key strokes per minute.
Ability to operate a motorized vehicle.
Ability to operate a variety of office equipment including, but not limited to PC, telephone, and copier.
Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Ability to read and interpret city road maps.
